2023 - 2024 Board of Directors
"Davis Cherry Blossom Festival" is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is governed and administered by the festival organizers. The Festival Planning Committee is typically the same set of people as the Board of Directors, sometimes with a few additional members.
Our organization has no paid staff and the organization is entirely run on a volunteer basis. The money that we raise goes directly into festival production or our annual charity fundraisers, depending on the source. Our organization is generously supported through public grants, private sponsorships, donations, and earned income from booth fees and merchandise sales. Our booth fees are intentionally kept low and our selection process focuses on supporting artists over income. The festival is free to the public, and the activities that we directly produce are free to participate in, though sometimes have suggested donations to help cover material costs.
The free and public nature of our festival is important to us as we wish to remove structural barriers to cultural participation and avoid the commodification of our cultural identities. Through this festival, we seek to both create Asian American Third Space as well as foster intercultural relationships, which we believe are foundational to pluralistic democracy.
